사도행전 27장 :33-44

 

사도행전 27장 :33-44

33 날이 새어 가매 바울이 여러 사람에게 음식 먹기를 권하여 이르되 너희가 기다리고 기다리며 먹지 못하고 주린 지가 오늘까지 열나흘인즉

34 음식 먹기를 권하노니 이것이 너희의 구원을 위하는 것이요 너희 중 머리카락 하나도 잃을 자가 없으리라 하고

35 떡을 가져다가 모든 사람 앞에서 하나님께 축사하고 떼어 먹기를 시작하매

36 그들도 다 안심하고 받아 먹으니

37 배에 있는 우리의 수는 전부 이백칠십육 명이더라

38 배부르게 먹고 밀을 바다에 버려 배를 가볍게 하였더니

39 날이 새매 어느 땅인지 알지 못하나 경사진 해안으로 된 항만이 눈에 띄거늘 배를 거기에 들여다 댈 수 있는가 의논한 후

40 닻을 끊어 바다에 버리는 동시에 키를 풀어 늦추고 돛을 달고 바람에 맞추어 해안을 향하여 들어가다가

41 두 물이 합하여 흐르는 곳을 만나 배를 걸매 이물은 부딪쳐 움직일 수 없이 붙고 고물은 큰 물결에 깨어져 가니

42 군인들은 죄수가 헤엄쳐서 도망할까 하여 그들을 죽이는 것이 좋다 하였으나

43 백부장이 바울을 구원하려 하여 그들의 뜻을 막고 헤엄칠 줄 아는 사람들을 명하여 물에 뛰어내려 먼저 육지에 나가게 하고

44 그 남은 사람들은 널조각 혹은 배 물건에 의지하여 나가게 하니 마침내 사람들이 다 상륙하여 구조되니라

 

Acts of the Apostles 27:33-44

33 Just before dawn Paul urged them all to eat. "For the last fourteen days," he said, "you have been in constant suspense and have gone without food-you haven't eaten anything.

34 Now I urge you to take some food. You need it to survive. Not one of you will lose a single hair from his head.'

35 After he said this, he took some bread and gave thanks to God in front of them all. Then he broke it and began to eat.

36 They were all encouraged and ate some food themselves.

37 Altogether there were 276 of us on board.

38 When they had eaten as much as they wanted, they lightened the ship by throwing the grain into the sea.

39 When daylight came, they did not recognize the land, but they saw a bay with a sandy beach, where they decided to run the ship aground if they could.

40 Cutting loose the anchors, they left them in the sea and at the same time untied the ropes that held the rudders. Then they hoisted the foresail to the wind and made for the beach.

41 But the ship struck a sandbar and ran aground. The bow stuck fast and would not move, and the stern was broken to pieces by the pounding of the surf.

42 The soldiers planned to kill the prisoners to prevent any of them from swimming away and escaping.

43 But the centurion wanted to spare Paul's life and kept them from carrying out their plan. He ordered those who could swim to jump overboard first and get to land.

44 The rest were to get there on planks or on pieces of the ship. In this way everyone reached land in safety.

33 날이 새어 가매 바울이 여러 사람에게 음식 먹기를 권하여 이르되 너희가 기다리고 기다리며 먹지 못하고 주린 지가 오늘까지 열나흘인즉

33 Just before dawn Paul urged them all to eat. "For the last fourteen days," he said, "you have been in constant suspense and have gone without food-you haven't eaten anything.

  바울은 14일동안, 생명을 유지할 정도로 최소한의 요기를 해온 사람들에게, 음식을 먹도록 권합니다.

 

34 음식 먹기를 권하노니 이것이 너희의 구원을 위하는 것이요 너희 중 머리카락 하나도 잃을 자가 없으리라 하고

34 Now I urge you to take some food. You need it to survive. Not one of you will lose a single hair from his head.'

  바울은 날이 새면 닥칠 여러 난관에 대비해 지금 식사를 해두어, 생명을 보존하도록 권합니다. 머리카락 하나도 잃지 않을 만큼, 하나님께서 완벽하게 보호 하신다고 위로하고 불안을 없애줍니다.

 

35 떡을 가져다가 모든 사람 앞에서 하나님께 축사하고 떼어 먹기를 시작하매

35 After he said this, he took some bread and gave thanks to God in front of them all. Then he broke it and began to eat.

 

36 그들도 다 안심하고 받아 먹으니

36 They were all encouraged and ate some food themselves.

 

37 배에 있는 우리의 수는 전부 이백칠십육 명이더라

37 Altogether there were 276 of us on board.

  배 안의 276명이 바울의 축사를 듣고 모두 안심하고 식사합니다.

 

38 배부르게 먹고 밀을 바다에 버려 배를 가볍게 하였더니

38 When they had eaten as much as they wanted, they lightened the ship by throwing the grain into the sea.

  로마 군인들이 이미 거룻배를 바다에 버린 상태라서, 이제 배를 가볍게 하여 해변 가까이 접근하려고, 먹고 남은 밀을 바다에 버렸습니다.

 

39 날이 새매 어느 땅인지 알지 못하나 경사진 해안으로 된 항만이 눈에 띄거늘 배를 거기에 들여다 댈 수 있는가 의논한 후

39 When daylight came, they did not recognize the land, but they saw a bay with a sandy beach, where they decided to run the ship aground if they could.

  배가 도착한 곳은 멜리데 섬의  성 바울만 입니다. 배는 주항만인 발레타에서 멀리 떨어진 곳이라 선원들도 이곳이 멜리데 섬인지 알지 못했습니다. 배는 평평한 모래 해안으로 상륙을 시도합니다. 

 

40 닻을 끊어 바다에 버리는 동시에 키를 풀어 늦추고 돛을 달고 바람에 맞추어 해안을 향하여 들어가다가

40 Cutting loose the anchors, they left them in the sea and at the same time untied the ropes that held the rudders. Then they hoisted the foresail to the wind and made for the beach.

  더 이상의 항해를 포기하고, 생명을 구하기 위해 닻을 잘라 버립니다. 키를 조절하고 돛을 올려 해안으로 이동시킵니다.

 

41 두 물이 합하여 흐르는 곳을 만나 배를 걸매 이물은 부딪쳐 움직일 수 없이 붙고 고물은 큰 물결에 깨어져 가니

41 But the ship struck a sandbar and ran aground. The bow stuck fast and would not move, and the stern was broken to pieces by the pounding of the surf.

  배의 앞부분 이물이 점토층에 박혀 움직일 수 없게 되고 뒤 고물 부분은 파도에 의해 부서져 갑니다.

 

42 군인들은 죄수가 헤엄쳐서 도망할까 하여 그들을 죽이는 것이 좋다 하였으나

42 The soldiers planned to kill the prisoners to prevent any of them from swimming away and escaping.

배가 비상 상태였기에 죄수들은 그동안 쇠사슬을 묶지 않고 곡물을 나르거나 각종 배의 일을 함께 거들게 했을 가능성이 있습니다. 이제 육지로 가면 이들이 도망 갈 것이니 차라리 죽이자고 부하들이 말하지만 백부장은 이것을 거절합니다.

 

43 백부장이 바울을 구원하려 하여 그들의 뜻을 막고 헤엄칠 줄 아는 사람들을 명하여 물에 뛰어내려 먼저 육지에 나가게 하고

43 But the centurion wanted to spare Paul's life and kept them from carrying out their plan. He ordered those who could swim to jump overboard first and get to land.

 백부장은 바울을 살리기 위해 죄수를 죽이지 않았으니, 바울 덕에 다른 죄수들도 죽음을 모면했습니다. 사실은 이미 바울 덕분에 배를 탄 모든 이들이 목숨을 건진 것입니다. (24절)  백부장은 바울의 뛰어난 지도력과 강한 믿음을 보고 큰 감명을 받았을 것입니다.

 

44 그 남은 사람들은 널조각 혹은 배 물건에 의지하여 나가게 하니 마침내 사람들이 다 상륙하여 구조되니라

44 The rest were to get there on planks or on pieces of the ship. In this way everyone reached land in safety.

  배가 좌초한 곳은 육지에서 멀지않아 , 사람들은 헤엄치거나  여러가지 물에 뜨는 물건들에 의지해서 상륙하게 됩니다. 바울이 예언한 대로 276명 모두가 목숨을 건졌습니다. 이들은 바울의 하나님이 자신들의 하나님이 되심을 경험하게 됩니다.
